October 2011

News update from Paul & Mandy Anderson Cowles at the Brick Kilns pub and restaurant in Little Plumstead, near Norwich.

...We have recently opened 3 guest bedrooms at the pub and now offer Bed & Breakfast including, of course, delicious Vegetarian & Vegan options.

This is a new venture for us and we have put a lot of effort in to making the rooms as appealing and comfortable as possible. Further information and photos can be seen on our website www.thebrickkilns.co.uk

I know from chatting to our vegetarian customers that it is not always easy for them to find welcoming accommodation and we hope to rectify this. They also often enjoy talking to us about (and sometimes meeting) our menagerie of much loved animals, some of which can be seen in the paddock adjoining the pub.

Eating at The White Horse, Overstrand

The White Horse in Overstrand is a newly refurbished Inn with Restaurant and Accommodation. Head Chef Nathan Boon is gaining a growing reputation for high quality and original recipes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Nathan is a young Chef who embraces change and likes to explore new avenues and challenge his culinary skills. He is keen to widen his knowledge and repertoire of Vegetarian and Vegan Dishes. Currently both our Bar and Restaurant Menus offer vegetarian options, and we plan to widen this to include some vegan selections when the Menus are next reviewed. In the meantime, we are happy to produce Vegan Dishes, if you mention your requirements when booking. We are holding our first Vegetarian/Vegan Food Night on Thursday 11th December and hope this will be a monthly event. We would love to welcome you along to sample our hospitality. May we ask that for this first evening you pre-book.

You can contact us by telephone on 01263 579 237

February

11-17 Feb is National Chip week ... just what do Veggies get to eat from their local chip shop apart from chips.

Some local recommendations from members are "The Chip Shop" on Stafford Street, and the "Thorpe Chip Bar" on Yarmouth Road, both in Norwich and frying with vegetable oil.

If you haven't seen it already check out the web site for the latest Vegetarian Bed & Breakfast in Norwich: Number 15. They are located at Number 15 Grange Road, Norwich.
